This evening many guys and gals are getting lucky because of this one special day. Many of us spent more money than we should’ve, thanks to the commercialization of Valentine’s Day. To be honest, the holiday is really a good and bad thing. This is coming from a dude, I know…mind blown, right?!
After some deep thinking for a few days on what I was going to get my wife. I stopped myself before I made a decision to go to the store. I realized that Valentine’s Day is really about appreciating those that we love deepest. Maybe it can be through flowers, cards and candy; but I think that doesn’t quite scratch the itch.
Valentine’s should be what the true meaning Christmas is. Appreciating what is great in life. For those of us who are fortunate enough to have a lover or companion in our life. This is a special time to let each other, I appreciate you being in life more than ever.
To be honest, I think we don’t stop to just truly LOVE AND APPRECIATE that man or woman in our lives.
So I came up with a better idea.
These are what I call Hot and Cold notes! The concept is super simple. Take two different color Post-It notes.
Make one color “sweet” and the other “sexy”.
For the “sweet” ones, I really took my time and thought about what makes my Louie, so wonderful. Some would be motivational, sweet and wholesome. While others would be about basic stuff, like about her smell, smile and what I thought was beautiful to me.
Now for the “sexy” notes, I got to have fun with them. Some of them would talk about the good things we did in bed, things that excited me and even new activities I’d like us to try. To make it work, I did avoid vulgarities. Let’s be honest, “I want to put my cock inside you.”, just doesn’t come off as romantic.
Instead, I would write “I miss feeling the heat from your mouth, as bodies move together!” Which sounds much sexier than the former.
For me, I did 91 Post-it notes. One for every month we’ve been together. Then for the “sweet” ones I placed them in “cool” areas in the house, like on fans or the refrigerator. The same is then done to the “sexy” ones, by placing them on the stove, a clothing iron or toaster.
To get creative, I used things like faucets to do BOTH on each knob or side.
Honestly, for me it took me a while to do. But was a very cheap way of reconnecting with what matters in your life.
Like the saying goes, “it’s the thought that counts!”
Why is there such a deep connection with us and the characters we play as?
Every time we sit down and load up a title on our weekly play. Many of us really don’t stop to realize. Why are we fascinated with an Italian plumber in a red cap and suspenders or an over-muscled Greek demi-god. Sure, it may go back to what we learned in high school English class about, “the hero’s journey” and how we all wished we could experience such feats. In a way, that’s clear and present in our minds as we infiltrate an enemy base or raid a building for supplies. We experience the journey first-hand, albeit in success and failure. Yet there are underlying reasons as to why these avatars of our digital are so identifiable with us. Like Spike Lee once said, “It must be the shoes!” In reality, it isn’t just the badass war paint or double barrel shotgun. Let’s take a look at some of the more memorable characters throughout our not-so daily grind.
This unfortunate Marine, is thrown into the bowels of hell right from the start, with only 10 unbloodied knuckles, a full magazine of ammo and one serious case of paranoia. We all know where this goes; all of his war buddies draw their guns in the wrong direction (his). This only leads to their last gasp and post-mortem gurgles. By the first level’s end, he’s armed with a shotgun and chainsaw in hand – From there, it’s all on us to do the rest.
Doomguy is in a situation we’d never want to be in, where it’s everyone against us. Yet it’s a first-hand account on how we’d survive it. Laying down buckshot into a cacodemon’s face and watching tumble with on three percent health hits home with us. Because it was at that moment, we’d that could been the end and it wasn’t.
All of us experience this at some time in our lives, where death comes close in the flesh and almost taps our shoulder. Be it, by narrowing being hit in a pedestrian crosswalk while the light was clearly red or accidentally cutting your hand pretty bad while dicing onions. That impeding sense of Doom that is right around each of life’s corners.
Sure, we’d continue to get that same adrenaline kick with each Team Deathmatch session or CoD/FPS game. But the feeling you’d get, is irreplaceable to that of the dark and bloodied corridors of hell itself.
He’s our favorite red and blue plumber, whose on-call for all the wrong reasons. (Seriously, have we ever seen him really fix a sink or toilet?) Mario has more skill with eating mushroom and jumping to Shaun White distances. With a smile that never drops and the nerves of diamond, he stomps Bowser and his crew every time. (Provided we succeed!) As a reward, he gets the girl and simple peck on the cheek, as gratitude.
Doing what Mario does and how we get him to the nice green and white flag, takes a lot resolve. Avoiding the turtle shells, bullet bills, bomb-oms and flames pits can seem like an impossible task. Eventually, we make it through and the success doesn’t seem any sweeter.
Mario is our perseverance, the will to adapt and overcome through the chaos and dangers very similar to us. Some challenges are greater than others and vary to our own lifestyles. Tight deadlines, balancing the household checkbook, being a good parent, taking extra classes; can seem like those same impossible feats. Still, we move forward, try our best and make it work, even if we fully succeed or not. In our later years, that perseverance pays off, with less or no debt, a home that is ours and the true reward for all of our hard labor.
Sheperd (Mass Effect 1-3)
Three epic chapters of space exploration weren’t enough for many of us. The recent entry Mass Effect: Andromeda left deep yearns of space exploration and saving the universe from rapture. Regardless of how well your experience was with that title, there was one big thing that wasn’t the same – Ryder. As a replacement, to the neutral character of the original trilogy, Shepard became Ryder. Both were open to be either a male or female option, with each having their own personalities depending on the choices you made. Shepherd had options that could lead you into firefights, a resolution of a conflict or even convince someone to commit suicide. Sadly, Andromeda’s Ryder was never given the same sort of ability of true conflict resolution.
Like the Star Trek multiverse, Mass Effect focused on the fragile relations of the intergalactic races of The Milky Way and beyond. Many instances Commander Sheperd ends up being right in the middle of a bog of diplomacy. Depending on how the Commander responded, the end result could be successful or disastrous. Ultimately, it could always be finished with good firepower and biotics (space magic), though.
Sheperd is our free will, the choice is unique only to the player and leaves permanent results, much like you and I. Our real lives have confrontations and disagreements where an outcome is dependent on what comes out of our mouths. Very much like Sir Isaac Newton’s Third Natural Law, “for every action there is an equal or opposite reaction.” Our free will to speak holds the gravity of infinite possibilities of our own future. (Pun intended)
Tommy Vercetti (Grand Theft Auto: Vice City)
Known as the 80s anti-hero and narco druglord in the fictional metropolitan, Vice City. Tommy was given the short end of the stick, even when he became a made-man in the Forelli crime family. From the moment he stepped out of the taxi cab, Tommy was bound to end up as a chalk trace on the hot pavement. Guided by his own actions and rage, Tommy took Vice City for himself, piece by piece.
Almost everyone that booted up Vice City, knows that you really didn’t play for the missions or story. It was great excuse just drive around like crazy, solicit a prostitute then get a “return” of service, blow up the cops and beat down pedestrians. Causing this sort of havoc is what really coined the term “sandbox” in gaming and we loved every minute of. At least until our parents found out after hearing hours of police sirens coming from the bedroom.
Tommy is the underlying rage and frustration we have inside us. Much like Fight Club’s Tyler Durden, no one wants to admit they have an animalistic urge to channel their aggression. Grand Theft Auto was one of our first real punching bags to the stresses of teen adolescence, work and life as a whole. Gaming is hobby and an escape for many of us, regardless if you want to believe it or not. Perhaps we aren’t bound by our desires and impulses, like Mr Vercetti. But we all know that you cannot keep it all bottled up inside.
(BTW, not my pic, but an AWESOME share none the less!)
Out with Grace and Louie for some trick or treating! (Grace is Pikachu and she’s loving every moment just to be in costume!) She’s a huge fan of the cartoon. (The first two seasons only, “because Brock and Misty are in it!” Her words, not mine.)
Tonight will be our usual stomping grounds in the local historic district. Last night, we didn’t see many houses decorated, so we’re hoping for a nice lil’ bundle of goodies for us to share together.
On another note, Grace, whose 4-years old knows what a zombie is…it’s as household as the Pillsbury dough-boy now. Ugh…
Man, this one brings back so many memories of those old Wolverine comics!
Yes ma’am, you can take me soul now! Just give me five more minutes!
It shaw is hot in here!
Fulling admit this is a close 2nd in terms of my nightmares of technology becoming sentient. Next to Skynet happening.
Come on, Pedator 3!
Looks like Conan’s had too much to drink…A-G-A-I-N!!
Dude I feel bad or you, as you elbows are twice the size of your face
At least this parade is for charity to help those suffering from Diabetes.
Dare me to just throw a ball of yarn over the ledge!
Too bad they’re painted by the guy on the right! What a cruel joke!
What would Batman be without his iconic skyscraper poses? Umm…I don’t wanna answer that one!
Okay sunshine that flash your seeing is a rocket headed straight for your nuts. HAVE FUN!!
G’damn I love this one!
Here is Admirawijaya, an AMAZING artist, that takes inspiration for the usual goodies. (COMICS, GAMES and a little of his own in between)
What I like about this guy’s work so much, is that much of his art reminds me of those Marvel collectible cards back in the 90s. The effects truly seem to jump at the viewer, which I always thought was kinda badass!!
Feel free to browse my usual snapshot of this gentleman’s phenominal artwork and be sure to SHARE and SUPPORT his hard work!
Valentine – Soul Calibur’s masochistic chemist, Ivy created this chain-whip sword, that pretty much goes from being a short sword to a projectile weapon. With both long range and short abilities, this girl is one rough customer! (The blade)
When I was playing the last big fight in Uncharted 4 (which I won’t spoil here), I was thinking about just how many cool swords there are in gaming. I already made a list of cool swords that I love in video games (linked here), but then I realized that that wasn’t enough. I need to make another list where I talk about even more of the awesome swords in video games, that I desperately wish I was able to have. I hope you enjoy.
10. Beam Katana
No More Heroes Perhaps it’s only fitting that such a cool weapon end up in the hands of a bumbling idiot who just so happened to get it by sheer chance. Now, this death-dealing monster is helping him climb the ladder of killers, in his goal to get to the top. A weapon that you use to dismember the living…
Today, I have APTERUS, whose an AMAZING painter!! As you can tell, much of his work is either inspired by the undead, mechs and Evangelion! Which I’m a fan of all three, so this one was a no brainer!! (get it, NO….BRAINER. I know, but I think it’s funny) His colors truly to come out, and look so nice against the dark, earthly backgrounds. Anyhow, enjoy the colorful, yet lifeless art I have on display for you today!
Be sure to LIKE, SHARE and COMMENT in support of this artist and myself!

If they injected the movie, “The Crow” with more Metal and less Emo, THIS is the result!!
Following the release of the most recent Fallout 4 DLC, Besthesda released the new mod creation kit or GECK (Garden of Eden Creation Kit). Which means almost EVERYTHING can be modified. From new weapons, locations, quests, animations, creatures; YOU NAME IT! This time around, consoles will be getting access to mods, but they will only be available through Bethesda’s screening process. Which means, no ADULT CONTENT, which is kind of obvious. (But it might mean, that they will filter out the more unstable mods).
Regardless, are undergoing beta phase for XBox One and will be available in June for PS4. I’M SUPER EXCITED and CANNOT WAIT! For the time being, CHECK OUT THE LINK!!!
I was reading some articles this morning and alluva sudden, I started hummin’ Castlevania 3 music in my head. So it sparked inspiration for yet another entry into my love of VGM! Boxart courtesy of Crapnami and Nintendo! (Nintendo I still love, you!!)
Many years ago, back in 4th grade art class, our art teacher let us start using his tracing lamp, when we finished our classwork. Despite its positive effects on teaching me how to draw; which I can, but rarely do it anymore… Regardless, I saw that one of my classmates brought in a game box from Castlevania III. During that time, I was familiar with the game, due to watching my older brother and his friend playing it years before. At the time, it was way too difficult for me to even enjoy it without walking away pissed.
This time, however, I mustered the courage to rent it from Video Frequency. (Oh yeah!!! THROWBACK!!)
What I got, changed my view gaming for good. Castlevania 3 was challenging, dark and EVEN let you play as different characters! (Which was something pretty new, then.) Each Castlevania has its own unique twists and quirks, if you pay attention; very much like in the story how Castle Dracula always changes its form, every time it reappears.
With that said, I’m featuring some of the best Castlevania remixes out there!
This one gets you pumpin’, as it has those high intensity pipe organ and tempo starting right away. This is from the Clock Tower area, which is USUALLY the hardest stage in Castlevania games. (They always seem to be the more memorable ones, too!)
I believe this one is from the final battle with Dracula. Not quite sure! But who cares, it sounds pretty bad-ass anyways!
Today, I finally got to see my best Erik, whom I haven’t seen since his wedding in a couple years. Which was mainly because he and his lady moved out of state, so it kind of sucked, not being about to hang out.
It was good to have a few laughs, get some GOOD eats, with some great low keyed time talking about; things that have happened to us, stuff about work and well most of all….MATH! Which I was following along with relatively, but was mostly just actively listening.
(UGGGHHHH MATHH!!! BTW Louie-6.02 x 10^23 is a real equation-It’s the Avacodo’s rule or something, GOOGLE IT!!!)
Most of the stuff they were going over was well beyond what I learned in college and high school. So it was a little hard to follow along with, which I don’t despise, but it’s difficult to really engage with that kind of talks.
Honestly, Algebra II and anything related to Number Muncher, was the highest I went. I feel old……………….
Eventually, a conversation was started talking about the math symbol π or “Pi”. Which they mentioned that it’s not pronounced “Pie”, which makes it sound yummy, but “Pee”. Which is NOT so yummy. They confused about why people don’t pronounce it that way, which ultimately leading that this is ‘Merica and do it our way. I just think that Americans are so IRRATIONAL.
But overall, it was good to see an old friend and spend some time with Louie sans our little girl Grace for once. After that, we spent a nice little car ride enjoying some music and talking about random things, which we haven’t been doing recently. Recently, it’s almost felt like we hadn’t talked in forever. But I had an amazing time with her today and she really she is my joy. (which felt really nice)
Later, we stopped by her parents and went to a spaghetti diner together, which was fun. Grace, was really klingy and kept on hugging me, telling me she loved me and had my melted like an ice cube thrown into a volcano.
Seeing her parents is always a great experience, as her dad is pretty much the best father-in-law a man could have. Personally, I kind of view him as my father, in a lot of ways. First, both of my parents are gone, which is pretty sad as I’m 33 years old, it is, but I manage. Second, I feel he and his family were a blessing to me, as it gave me the grounded guidance I needed when my mom died and many other things. Third, he has welcomed me into his family in the most amazing way. Last, he’s got a true heart of gold and only gets on my nerves when he plays pranks on me.
Her mom has also been there, whenever I needed somebody to give the right advise when I needed a second opinion. She’s been patient with many of the ups and downs that come with getting into a house, finding a new career and supporting Louie and Grace. So, I couldn’t have asked for more.
OK OK, enough sappiness for one day!!
Overall a great day!! – Be sure to LIKE, SHARE and REBLOG if you want. Til’ next time!
